- Description
- A new kind of hollow sphere structure is considered to evaluate the dependency of uniaxial mechanical properties on the geometrical properties of joining elements and on the material properties of the spheres. In this novel shape, the classical hollow spheres are perforated so that the inner volume and surface are accessible. Perforated hollow sphere structures in a cubic pattern are modelled using the three-dimensional finite element method. By changing the geometrical properties of the joining element and the material properties of the spheres in a non-homogeneously bonded perforated hollow sphere structure, Young’s modulus, Poisson’s ratio, and initial yield stress are numerically evaluated.
